Each year South Texas Youth Soccer Association selects players to represent the State on the State Olympic Development Teams. The teams are formed throughout the year and then head to Region III Olympic Development Camp in July at University of Montevallo, Alabama. Region III is made up of 12 states in the southeast part of the country. (South Texas, North Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Alabama) Region III selects about 30 players from each age group to stay over an additional 3 days after the camp to compete and train. During the Year, the Region will select players from the pool to attend different events throughout year. The United States National Teams are selected from these events.
