Challenge Girls go to AAU National Junior Olympic Games for Track
Three Blitz 95 players (Diana Evans, Karis Jochen, and Katie Wells) participated in AAU track this summer. All three Blitz players performed well enough at the district and regional levels to qualify for the National Junior Olympics held in Detroit from 7/28 to 8/2.
Evans qualified in the 800m and 1500m races. Today (7/28) at Nationals in the 800m, she came in 2nd in her qualifying heat and based on time advanced to the finals with 7 other girls. She will run the final race on Wednesday, 7/30. She will run her 1500m race on Thursday, 7/31.
Jochen qualified in the 1500m, but due to scheduling conflicts did not go to Nationals.
Wells qualified in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m races. She did not complete in Nationals in the 800m due to scheduling conflicts. She runs her 1500m race on Thursday, 7/31 and the 3000m race on Saturday, 8/2.
