Chaylyn Hubbard (Challenge 99 ECNL) Selected to U14 US National Team Training Camp

September 1, 2013

Chaylyn Hubbard (Challenge 99 ECNL) has been selected to attend the upcoming U14 US National Team Training Camp, held September 14-21 at the United States National Training Center in Carson, California. This marks Chaylyn’s second time attending camp with the U14 USNT. Thirty-six players from around the country will participate in the week long event in an attempt to impress Head Coach April Kater and US Women’s Development Director Jill Ellis, and earn a coveted spot on the U14 National Team.

Chris Maravalli, ECNL Assistant Director, had this to say about Chaylyn’s National Camp selection: “Chay has earned the right to be considered one of the best players in the country and we feel as though she is only at the start of a long career with the US National Team program. She is a tireless worker and her love for soccer shows through in her dedication to training, continuous desire to improve, and love of her team. Even though she plays up a year, Chay has earned the respect of her teammates and is considered a leader among the group while also playing multiple positions. She is a very difficult match up for any team in the country and we can’t wait to see how her athleticism and soccer IQ translate to the International Level. We are very proud of you, Chay!”

“Chaylyn’s repeated inclusion in the U14 National Team program solidifies her as one of the elite players in the country. Chay has joined an impressive list of Challenge players who have represented their country and by being included at such a young age US Soccer is also recognizing her long term potential. As a club, we take pride in not only developing the nation’s elite players, but also those of all abilities. Chay is a great example of a player who joined us at a young age, bought into our program, and dedicated herself to the game she loves. We expect big things from her at the upcoming camp and for many years to come! Undoubtedly she will have many more opportunities with the National Team and we are excited about watching her continue to grow and develop under Challenge’s guidance. " - Pat O’Toole, Director of Coaching

Chaylyn joins Haley Pounds (United States U18), Grace Wright (Ireland U19), and Jamie Simmons (United States U20) as the fourth Challenge player to be selected to National Team camps in the past year.
