Challenge 00 alum and current Angelo State University sophomore, Gabby Villagrand, was recently selected to participate in Olympic Qualifying with the Panama Senior Women’s National Team.
The qualifying tournament is taking place at Houston’s BBVA Stadium with Panama drawn into Group A with the USA, Haiti and Costa Rica.
Gabby earned her first international cap in Panama’s game 1 loss to Costa Rica, subbing on as a forward in the 55th minute.
‘Gabby was always a very hard working and determined player throughout her years with us, at Challenge. She worked her way up through several levels of play, ultimately playing in our ECNL program as a senior. Her progression is a great example to all young players that development is a process which ultimately rewards those who love the sport. Her call up to the Panama National Team and participation in the Olympic Qualifiers is well deserved and the entire Challenge family is proud of her accomplishments.’
