Madison Pickett Selected as a 2018 HER Coaching Scholarship Recipient

RICHMOND, VA (February 27, 2018) – As part of the Amazing Young WomenTM campaign, the Girls Elite Clubs National League (Girls ECNL) has announced the 2018 recipients of the H.E.R. Coaching Scholarships. Ten women from across the country were chosen from a deep pool of talented applicants to continue their coaching development and receive a scholarship from the Girls ECNL to pursue a US Soccer Federation National Coaching School’s Grassroots or “D” coaching license.

Launched in 2015, the H.E.R. Coaching Scholarship Program was created by the Girls ECNL specifically for Girls ECNL Alum and aspiring female coaches. The program aims to encourage current or former female players to enter the coaching profession, encourage continuing education within the profession, and continually raise the level of play in female youth soccer.

“The Girls ECNL is committed to providing coaching education opportunities to women that have been a part of the league,” said Jen Winnagle, ECNL Commissioner. “We hope to play a role in raising the number of female coaches across the youth space by investing in their future and showing the young players of today that a career in coaching is a great option.”

Of the ten recipients, six are Girls ECNL Alum, three are currently coaching at an ECNL Member Club and one is an ECNL Alum currently on staff with a Girls ECNL Member Club. The winners are:

To be eligible, H.E.R. scholarship applicants were required to be current or former Girls ECNL players, current female coaches within Girls ECNL Member Clubs, or females that aspire to coach or currently coach a women’s and/or girls’ team at the club or college level. Each winner will receive financial assistance to attend either the USSF National Coaching School’s Grassroots or “D” coaching license course in 2018.
